remote server?

I keep getting error (dialog box) saying "Could not locate remote server" hhtp:////???%12?%C3%AF???????????????%12?%12?%
I select OK because that's the only option there is. What does this mean? I have High Speed Cable so am always connected to the Internet. I am new to Elements. I get this when I am in the Editor. (PhotoshopElements 5) Any advice appreciated.

Go into preferences and deselect Check for Updates -- Adobe doesn't do updates but that option in on in the software -- so it can cause these kinds of problems.
