I've Had Elements 5 For A Few Months Now, And I Still Can't Do Anything With It. Try As I Might, I Cannot Remove Back Grounds , Or Do Anything Else. I Have Yet Been Able To Find The Magic Button That Does What I Am Attempting. There Really Should Be A Manual Furnished, Even At More Cost, In Simple English, To Help Us That Are So Nue That We Can't Even Spell New. Any Help In The Magic Button Department? Thanks In Advance,

Hi Bob ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
I'm afraid that there isn't a magic button that removes backgrounds ... you could try this if the background is plain:
If the layer is a background layer go to the layers palette and double click on the layer thumbnail ... when the box pops up to rename the layer just click on OK.
Then get the magic want and click on the background ... hopefully it will select most of it and you can then do Edit>Delete.
If the background isn't plain then you may need to use the lasso tool and select the object that way :)

Thanks, I'll Give It A Try. Elements Does A Lot More, But Is A Lot More Involved Than Anything I Have Used In The Past. Thanks Again. Bobgruetter

don't be discouraged. It seems overwhelming at first. Everyone here is very helpful. I learned a lot from just reading the posts here. When you can it is worth it to subscribe to the newsletter, because with it you also have videos and written tutorials you can download. It was worth it i subscribed for a 2 year subscription (although i still have not gotten my free dvd) i am very happy. Again all here have been very thoughtful and helpful. Welcome!:D

Hi Bob ...
Elements does seem complicated to begin with ... but you will soon get the hang of it and if you do get stuck then just ask and one of us will talk you through things :)
