I have not been able to follow the second example in the Day 4 opacity lesson (where I'm to create a new layer, use the rectangular marque tool to create a rectangle over a block of text, then use the paint bucket to create a white rectangle). I can create the marque on the new layer, but when I try to use the paint bucket with white as the foreground color, it paints pieces of the camouflage background rather than the whole area inside the marque.

I've seen the video three times now, followed the steps precisely, made sure my fill, pattern, mode, opacity and tolerance settings are exactly as displayed on the screen, but it hasn't worked. (I'm using APE 3.0 in Windows)

Hi there ...

It actually sounds as thought you are not on the blank layer but on the camouflage layer instead ...

If you are sure that you are on a blank layer then just do Edit>Fill Selection instead.

Correction ... I have just had a thought. Get the paint bucket and then check the top of the screen and make sure that All Layers is not checked :)

"Use All Layers" WAS checked, and that was the problem. Thanks for pointing that out.
