Before purchasing PSE Iwould appreciate someone telling me if the programme can be used for two projects that Microsoft Picture It 2002 had i.e provided shapes that could be manipulated and animations that made it possible to use two or more pics that flipped.

What is the file type... for instance, a JPEG file has ".jpg" at the end of the file name. What is the ".???" extension of the files you want to open?

You know, you can download a full trial version from Adobe that you can try out for 30 days. PSE does have custom shapes, but not sure what you mean by manipulate them. Also it has the capability of making animations.
