I took the survey for Elements 6.0, kind of a pain. Anyway I got the distinct impression that they thought that what people want is this online gallery/posting/storage/back up thing rather that more and powerful editing features, sort of like a PS3 mini, curves, selection tools, b&W, layers. I know they don't what to cut into the Photoshop market and that I can continue to use 5.0 with ACR 4.1 but with the new Lightzone moving closer to Lightroom, I'd like to spend my upgrade bucks on a stronger editor rather than and organizer and clip art paster

I have not taken the survey, but just read the other thread (PSE6 coming soon). I agree with you Steve, I am not interested in online gallery/posting/storage/back up thing. I would also prefer more editing features. From what I have read, I do not think I will buy PSE6 when it comes out. I will have to do more research on it first.

From the survery...it sure seems like that is what they are looking at is an online gallery, photo sharing via web, etc. That doesn't interest me either and I would prefer new editing capabilities. From the questions they asked and the answers I gave, I think I let them know that. One of the questions asked if I would be willing to spend $99 for PSE6 and I said no.

Susan,

Good answer on if you would be willing to pay $99 for PSE6. I wish I could have taken the survey, but it was never offered to me.

The creepy thing was that it appeared on organizer and not on a browser.........does organizer always check with the mothership behind my back?

I hope version 6 will at least have a Mac version. In the past adobe has skipped odd versions for the Mac and had a Mac version on even releases.

I plan on buying a MacBook Pro when Leopard is released.

But I agree with the rest of you about the online jibberish. Give us more editing power --- like the ability to use Open Type fonts and better pano stitching etc.

Hi Jack ...

The only version of Elements that has not been released for the Mac is PSE5 ... all the other versions were for both :)

I'm baffled by this - I can't see how the release of PSE6 can be in any way imminent if Adobe are only now canvassing opinions over feature inclusion.

How does one access this survey? Is it for PSE 5 users only? :(

Tricia,
Stave said it appeared when he was using the Organiser. I never use the Organiser, so I guess that is why I never saw it. It seems strange that it would pop up like that while using any part of Elements! I have no clue how they did that!

IMHO, I am getting annoyed at Adobe for nickle /dimming me for yearly or at least 18 months updates. Do the math...PSE-3=$69, PSE-4=$39, PSE-5=$39....+$147 + Tax. Those prices were received with careful watching all the advertisements, sales, rebates etc. I also bought a few plug in's etc so it's close to $200 US Bucks. I now, if I choose could get CS-3 extended version for $299 (teachers discount). Then in 2-2 1/2 years buy the update. Don't forget the continuous PSE updates don't ever come near what CS-3 has to offer. This would be cheaper in the long run and I will probably go that route. Three years ago I would never have thought that way. Live and learn.

Eddie,

I totally agree with you. Adobe is not alone, there are many many software companies that do the exact same thing, bringing out new versions every 9-18 months! If you do not keep up with the latest version, some of the companies will no longer give you technical support. They are all bleeding us to death of our hard earned dollars. Don't get me wrong, I will still update Elements, but probably not every version every time they come out.
