I scan by using the Photoshop Elements4 File menu (Mac OS10.4.9). When I import the Epson scan window, I preview, then scan, then it opens in Elements where I can save it. For each page, I must repeat the entire process: edit>import>epson>preview>scan>save. However, sometimes I would like to scan several pages one after the other. Is there a way, in Elements, to keep the scan window open, rather than having to choose "import" for every page?

I know that Epson has software that allows you can do multiple scans then open them one at a time, but I prefer scanning directly through Elements.

I'm also using an Epson scanner. After you complete the first scan, you are in Elements-Edit and the image(s) displayed. Look down at the bottom of your desktop toolbar and click on the Epson icon.

You are back to the scan routine. Remove your first scan and put the next one on the glass. Click Preview and away you go.

If this isn't what you wanted, I didn't understand your Q :)
