I'm wondering if there are any links or books or websites that give examples of creative Text & titles and how to create those PSE? Seems most of my text & page toppers in scrapbooking aren't as fancy as those I see in magazines and layouts on websites.

Any ideas or direction where to look would be helpful!

Simplest way of making fancier titles

Fill your text with background scrapbook paper
_______________________________________

Type your text - heavy fonts work best

Open a background paper and layer it above the text

Go to background paper layer - hit control g - (group)
you can move the fill around until you have just the right pattern

Go to "grouped" layer - merge down to "meld" your paper and text (I guess the proper term would be simplify layer)

Then add a bevel and shadow

Add some flowers or embellishments to some of the letters

It works nicely using another photo too, if you do not have the paper.

Hi ...

... and another way is to apply a layer style to your text and there are lots of very nice styles about :)

Hi Anna,

One of the best ways of making creative titles is using some of the gazillion free fonts available for download. Check out some of these old threads for font links:

After selecting a font you like and typing your text, it can be made even more creative using the Warp effect in the Text tool Options Bar.

Stroke Your Text: After typing your text heading, create a new blank layer above the text layer and with the new layer active, Ctrl-click on your text layer to select it. Then from the menu: Edit > Stroke (outline) Selection, selecting a color and width. It's wise to link your text and stroke layers so if you move your text, the stroke moves with it.

Gradient-Filled Text: Use the same method above to get a selection from your text layer and then use the Gradient tool to fill the selection with a gradient. Then the text layer can be hidden or deleted.

Below are several links I have saved that deal with creative text. If you have any questions about any of the techniques, let us know.
