View Full Version : Problem with Elements 5 Reinstall

I received a copy of PS CS2 from work - I tried to load it on my laptop (Vista). CS2 wouldn't work after the install but neither would Elements. I removed CS2 and Elements still failed. I uninstalled Elements and reinstalled but now I can't open the editor. The organizer will open but when I try to open the editor, it starts the load and hangs for a while and then says "Unable to connect to editor application" (this is a Photoshop message).

It appears that something was installed when I tried to install CS2 that is not being removed from the install but I have removed all traces I can find (including all folders related to anything Adobe).

Anyone have any ideas of what might be causing this problem, or how to ensure that all pieces of both Elements 5 and CS2 are removed so that I can get a clean install.

Elements 5 worked fined on this machine before I tried the CS2 install - now I can't get it to work.

Ed,
Try the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301).

Hi Juergan
Doesnt the clean up utility only refer to Microsoft software

My best guess is a register cleanup might help

No, it works on programs that use the Windows Installer, which Elements and CS2 (I think) use. When you load the utility, it will show you a list of eligible programs. Be careful running other registry cleaners. Try this utility first.
