I have to admit that I had a hard time following that tutorial...but seeing Linda's wonderful rendition makes me appreciate the technique a whole lot more!
Great job, Linda!!

Hey, thank you, Kim and Chuck. I got going on that tutorial and couldn't stop. Also did a tree with snow on the branches reflected in water, and it turned out interesting, too. It's kind of addicting, I think!

Linda, are you going to post the tree picture as well? They really are inspirational!

Here it is, Chuck. I think it could use some more work. I think it might look better with some "fog" lying on the water. Maybe I'll work on it some more later.

Chuck and I are in the same boat......:)
Once I was able to watch the video, I tried several times to accomplish what others have done but it just seems like too many steps to remember....at least for me. And I've watched that video several times and still can't get it right...:(
You folks are truely amazing!

Yes, I pause the video and do a step or two, then restart, as well. Ladybug I love the one in your gallery. http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/view_img.php?id=21201

I have to pause the video over and over again too. I watch the same part over again several times on occasion. It is the only way I can follow the instructions. Andie

i am glad i am not rowing this boat all by myself. It is funny how following step by step makes something so easy. Glad we have teachers! My thanks to all of them.

I re-wored the tree reflection. On the earlier version, I didn't like that you could actually see the cut-off branches, where the photo had ended. So I stretched the photo clear to the edge of the water layer. Also played with a sun-glow and fog floating on the water. I think I put too much time into this one, but it was a great learning experience.

Jean, on the whale one, for the frame I used one of the borders from here: http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/freedownloads/l/blframesmain.htm, and I think I used a chrome layer style.

Great jobs on all of them. I don't know how you guys did it.
I was giving it a go and could never get my water nice and smooth.. I always had too many ripples.
I'll have to revisit the tut.:)

Linda: Thanks for info. I have some of those frames downloaded, but never thought to apply something like chrome to one. Looks fantastic as does your photo. Jean

We all agree! Beautifull picture. I think i like the first one the best. Must give this tute a try, is it a new one or have I been gone too long?

Linda - That's really wonderful. I didn't think too much of that tut when I first watched it, but after playing with it a bit and seeing all the options available ... I like it. To my eye, adding perspective and fade to the reflection helped a lot. (There's one in my gallery.) You really took full advantage of it ... nicely done!!

Gary, I, too struggled with a too-detailed ripple effect. I found out that it is because I was using a 300 dpi image. So, if you want to keep it at 300 dpi, you'll have to stretch the cloud layer out a lot more (clear off of the canvas) until it is lightly streaked, as in Corey's tutorial. After I did that, I cropped the image back to the original canvas size. From there on, it will work well.
Oh, and by the way, thanks to everyone for their complimentary comments. Makes my day!

Linda, the tree is definitely a keeper. The picture would be beautiful blown up and framed or on cover of Christmas cards. Great job. All your patience and hard work paid off.;)

The tutorial is from May 25, 2007.
Linda,
Your image is fantastic!:) I tried to follow the tut last week, but couldn't get the water to fade. You've inspired me to try again!:D

Linda
Thanks .. that was part of the problem, but I also missed a step.:o
One of the first ones:rolleyes:
... I was filling the whole document with the cloud layer not just a skinny selection ad dragging it out.
Funny thing is I tried to drag the whole document out thinking that might help, but I didn't remember Corey doing that, so I didn't persist.

Aha! I did that, too, the second time I tried it . . . thinking I could remember the steps without watching the video. Nope, I had to go back and take a look. Glad it's working out for you now, Gary. Let us see what you come up with.

Linda, great job on the tree! It's simply beautiful. I haven't tried the water reflection yet...course it sounds like it might be a challenge from some of the comments...but I'll have to try it when I get some free time.
