I am currently taking the 21 day class on adjustment layers. On the day 8 class it shows how to change the color of a car using an adjustment lays & hue-saturation sliders ---- why does it only change the color on the car & not the tires, windshield & etc. When I ttry this on my own pictures everything changes color??? Is it because the tires & windshield are dark & don't show the changes in color or ?????
Thanks

Hi Mott
That pretty much is it.
I haven't taken the course, but white and black don't tend to change when using the hue/sat adjustments.
You can always use the layer mask beside the adj. layer to mask out the offending colour changes.

I took that course quite a while ago but I think what happened was when he opened up the hue/sat box for the adjustment he clicked on the arrow next to the word master. That gives you a menu of colors to choose from. For example if the car was red and you choose reds from the menu it would only change things in the photo that were red.

I think it is because the background is white -- and parts of car are black that the hue changed only on the car body. I've been looking for a tutorial (I remember, but questionably so) that showed how to do this by selecting the color to replace. Will continue searching and see what I can find out.
