how funny i was just looking at your pictures. You are quick humming birds are not that easy to catch. I enjoy seeing them because i do not have any near me. ( but hey i have 2 tomatoes on the vine. yummy! first time growing tomatos, (dad talked me into it) don't laugh but they are in a pot.

Beautiful picture. Did you have the camera pre-positioned? I have a bird feeder out back and thought I would have my camera positioned so that if I saw a bird in the feeder I could just press the shutter button. Haven't gotten around to it though.

Sherry: That is a fabulous series! I think its amazing how effective silhouettes can be even of subjects that in full light are very colorful and detailed. The way you caught the light through the feeder and the bird's wings is perfect. I'm glad you posted them all...

Terrific series of shots, Sherry! How did you capture the wings without a blur?

Thank you all!
I just stood about 2 ft away from the feeder & shot (handheld). I used my on camera flash hoping to illuminate the hummingbird.

hmmmm... interesting. You DID you flash? Were you using our special lens? I wonder what the pics without flash would have looked like. I like these! Very nice! I'm just curious if the lens would have been fast enough to capture without flash. Only 2 feet away? I can't get that close without scaring them away... but then I'm not tiny like you.:)

Yeah Norman, the hummer thought I was just another long beak (big nose) hanging around.
Yes, I did flash and I did use our "special" lense.:)
