sassielady,

The font is probably a .TTF file type.

Click Start > Run... then type in "fonts" (without the quotes) and click OK. This will open your Fonts folder.

Drag/drop your TTF file into the Fonts folder window and it should be automatically installed by WinXP.

Then, the next time you start PSE5, the font should be one of those available.

Start>run>fonts brings up all fonts on C drive. I don't have all of those fonts available in pse5. Is, or where is the fonts folder in pse5? I want more fonts to work with but have been unable to get any. If I can drag and drop the fonts on the computer to pse5 I would be delighted!

Thank you for advice

All of my fonts that are installed on the computer in the fonts folder
(my computer > c drive> Window >fonts) are available to me to use in elements v.5.
Now, I do have many other fonts not installed there. They are on my desktop, in a folder, or on a cd.
To get those:[I have the font opened and min. Then start elements. I go to load fonts, and it joins the rest of the font list.
Hope that helps.

As I understand it, once a font is installed in the fonts folder it is available to all your software and you cannot choose to eliminate fonts from only PSE.

To keep the number of fonts in PSE down, you will need to not install any fonts into your fonts folder, but rather keep them in another folder - like Michelle mentioned. Those fonts can then be used only when you want them.

Only down side to this method is that you have to have the font open prior to opening Elements and if you want to use another font from that folder and Elements is already opened, you'll need to close Elements - open the font - then reopen Elements.

Having so many fonts installed in Windows seems to slow Elements text function - but the hassle of having to access them from other folders just doesn't work for me - so I install them all - but I'm more picky about what I install now.

if you have fonts that you *only* want to be available in your Adobe apps, put them here:

\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Fonts\ ;)

Graffi, I may be coming at you with one of those big sloppy kisses too, so watch out after I try this out!!!

hmmm...now you have me thinking Graffi. If I do place them there, does it free up the windows space. And is it easier access than the folder on the desktop. Because boy, howdy, do I have a bunch!!:o

I'm more interested in making a file with only the fonts I want open with Elements

It's not that I don't want these fonts available for other software to use - it's that I don't want to scroll through every font I have when I want to find something to use while I'm working in Elements.

It seems what you are suggesting is a file to put special Elements only fonts - fonts that will not be available to other software.

I want to eliminate everything I don't like - and only have a couple of dozen fonts available when I use the text function in Elements.

When I'm working in Elements, I want to more easily scroll through my chosen fonts - not everything that is in Windows.

Does the common files> adobe> fonts - do that?

And how would I keep everything else from showing up?
