Here is my try at this technique. It was fun because it was such an unusual technique. It was sort of hard to decide on a photo to use for it. Anyway - here it is:

This technique was lots easier to do than the glass one - I really had trouble with that. Here is that one for comparison's sake:

Yes it looks like fun -- don't have any water pictures I can use. You did good on yours.

Thanks Will - I was actually thinking that a car photo would be cool on the water background...I don't take pictures of cars - not my thing at all - but I'll bet a floating car would look good! Andie

Hi Chas - It took a pretty long time for the video to download so I minimized it and went on to something else. Eventually it came up and worked just fine. I wonder if I could send it to you somehow since it worked for me? What do you think? Andie

Hi Kim - Yes - school is pretty much out for the summer. :D I still have to go in next Thursday (summer school starts) and then the Monday - Wednesday ( a staff development class) after that. Then I'm finished until July 19!!!
I have some huge photo projects to finish before we go on our summer trip, so I will be very busy!!
Glad you liked my projects. Andie

PS. Actually I did something similar a couple of months back for a Scrappers Guide tutorial where I took a watery image and reflected the type with a displacement mat:

Gary & Linda,
Now, that's excellent!
I found the video interesting, and learned a lot but, frankly, didn't have much interest in the end product. For my taste, a rectangular and defined image, just "sitting on the water", was simply odd looking.
Your imagination shows how to really use this to good effect.

I agree Rusty! Linda , what a great shot!!
When I try a tutorial, I usually do it pretty much as taught to make sure I understand at first and then I stretch the technique. I just love the car and the whale with the reflections!!! Andie

Rusty,
I agree with you - Linda's whale & Gary's car are brilliant! - I wasn't really happy either with a photo merely sitting on the water, but like Andie I like to follow the tutorial exactly to start off with....now I've practised it I tried it out a bit differently....The hardest bit was selecting the swan.
