Love your goslings, Suzi,

but I keep coming back to the C5A, it's such a great perspective and you framed it well with the branches.

Thank you Rusty...I have to ask , how did you know it was a c-5(a). Were you in the military. My husband was a loadmaster on them for many, many years.

I love the birds taking off from the water. You must have been at the right place at the right time to capture that.

Suzi: You did a great job getting the exposure right on the C5. It looks great with the tree branches framing it. Super catch!

Suzi, Rusty was in the military. I knew it was a C-5a also, awesome plan. I live near Dobbins Air Base and remember when they first launced the plan, you could hear it all over Cobb County when they started the engines. I love your gallery, thanks for pointing it out us.:)

Thanks all of you for you wonderful comments. Can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate them.
Charlotte, I live by Travis AFB and their flight path was right over our house. Used to love the sound of them. My husband flew on them for about 18 yrs, so when one would fly over I would say to the kids "maybe that is Daddy coming home"

Suzi,

I used to work on those little planes when I was in the AF Reserve at Travis... from some of the electronics in the flight deck to crawling down inside the pylons that hold the engines to the wings.

Living in Vacaville, as well, I had plenty of opportunities to learn their distinct howl. Even to this day, on the rare occasion that one takes a flight path over my town, my ears tell me what it is before I see it. (same thing for a C-141, or a KC-135, or a C-130... they all have a recognizable "voice")

My nose also still remembers that unique "military aircraft" smell -- both inside and out! ;)
