I've uploaded a photo - I used the off-camera flash approach to taking this picture. Check out the shadowing and let me know what you think.

Will, looks like you are on he right track to get the side lite siloutte effect. It looks like you have placed the light directly to the side. Maybe but it just slightly back towards the camera with a little more angle to it and a tighter crop. Play with it till you get a shadow you like. Beautiful doll, btw.

Will,

The angle of light looks far more natural than an on-camera flash would produce, IMO.

Hi Will,

I like the side light, to me it seems to be filtered sunlight coming from
a window across the room. ... For me the entire image is a little to dark,
but that's me...

Hey Will - I think it's a great shot and I like the indirect lighting. Like Tom, I'd be inclined to bump up the levels a bit, but I really like the shot!

I've adjusted the lighting -- thanks for the recommendation. I thought it was kind of dark; but didn't think to increase the exposure while it was RAW. So I used Shadows/Highlights to open it up more.

Hi Will,
That's a nice image, and the lighting is what makes it work. Straight-on light and you'd have just a washed-out snapshot. Also, it wouldn't be too tough to make that into a dark, skin-crawly Omen-y Chuckie-ish nightmare starter.

I'm sorry I didn't get to see the "before" version.

(I really like the shot called "hazy countryside, Italia", BTW.)
