Hi, I have a Epson Stylus CX6400 all in one scanner and never had any problems communicating from the PC to the scanner. The scanner is on and I use a USB connection to the tower, I have Windows XP and for some strange reason I now have a problem. I installed Photoshop Elements 5.0 and scanned a few photos with no problems. All of a sudden after about a month I now have a problem scanning. When I click on scan inside PSE-5 I get a message that says cannot communicate between PC and scanner and can't scan. Some times inside PSE-5 the scanner works and sometimes not. Anyone have any ideas on what to do or what the problem is? I can scan manually from the Epson scanner fine but not from PSE-5.
Thanks in advance from Richard L. in Texas

Richard,
I suppose the scanner is set up in the Organizer Preferences. You may want to double check. If it is and it is not working you can try to set it up again. Restart Elements and try again. If still no progress, I suggest to reset the Organizer Preferences altogether. Here are the instructions (#4):

Afterward you need to set the scanner up one more time.

HTH,
Juergen

PS I had not seen your edit that it works some of time... Try it anyway. J.
