Hi,
Reading through one of the threads, I see where someone was advised to reset the preferences to their defaults. I have some issues of my own (just ask my ex) and thought this might be a good idea for me to try.

Alas, when I hold down the ctrl+alt+shift keys during the loading, the only thing that happens is that a window appears, showing the progress for loading the artworks and effects pallet. If I start the program without holding down the keys, it just loads without the progress screen.

I've tried holding down the keys while the welcome screen loads, right after clicking the editor button, right after clicking the pse5 icon on my desktop and just about every permutation I can think of. All with the same result.

Man, this is frustrating. I'm never going to get to the point of making good photos if I can't even navigate around in the program. Has anyone had this type of problem? Thanks for any help you can offer-it's appreciated, believe me.

iI think you need to hold the keys down WHILE clicking the icon for the Editor. Hold them down until you see a message you haven't seen before. When it asks you if you want to reset, let go of the keys and click yes.

Try that and let us know if it works.

Hi ...

You only need to reset the prefs if you are having problems with Elements ... what problems are you having ??

You have to hit the three keys immediately as you start the Editor. Timing is crucial. It may take a few attempts. If you have the Editor in your Windows Start Menu, you can actually hold down the keys first and then start it.

Well, I had an issue with an exercise I was doing out of a book and was willing to try any fix. Fortunately, I've received some great suggestions to my post in the Beginner's forum and I think things are pretty well resolved. Whew! I didn't want to change things, anyway. Thanks for the help!
