Working on a number of old pictures, about 30. Everything went smoothly and PSE 5 did a fantastic job on all but two. The 28 were saved as .PSD and are still there. The two that didn't get the message, even though I saved them the same way, now come up with a message: "Cannot Open [then listing the path of the saved file], it is the wrong type of file."
I noted that the file is still there, and happens to be 4.34 MB in size, and is listed with a little ICON that looks like a small box with a blue bar across the top with two little dots - one red and one light blue.
Using PSE 5 with PC Windows XP.
Has anyone had this experience before or does Weird things only happen to me. I noted that I could not discover the ending [like the PSD or JPED or whatever] of the file that cannot be opened.
Appreciate any aid!!!

Buzz,
Are those two files supposed to be PSD files also? If they do not have an extension, you can rename them to xxxx.psd and try to open them.

Juergen: Thank you. Thank you. I screwed up when making a title for those two pictures and utilized a "period" in the titles without thinking. Of course, the computer RECOGNIZED the "period" for something else and AWAY I WENT in a basket.
I recognized my stupidity when I renamed the file. Thank you so much. Buzz
