Need help with PSE 5.0 and Vista

Hi,

I just recently purchased a computer with Vista and have successfully installed PSE 5.0 and have installed the 5.0.2 patch. I do see the version on the welcome screen so I know that the patch installed properly. Now for my problem. While editing a photo, I an unable to scroll on the history (scroll bar does not work). Also, Under Art Work and Effect -> Special effects, Filter displays but when I click on the drop down arrow nothing happens. I'm trying to select Layer Styles under Special effect.

I do have this software install on my old machine with XP and this works fine.

Can anyone help me?

I have the Vista operating system and have had no problem with the Under Art Work and Effect -> Special effects Filter drop down arrow.

Darosa,
Styles are installed differently using vista. When you want to install you have to go to - Program Data and then the same path as in XP.
If you have done this I apologize for teaching my grandmother to suck eggs, it's just a thought as I made the mistake.

Hi,

I did follow the tutorial about installing layer styles and do see other styles setup. Is there another way that I can access the layer style via a menu or hot keys?

I'm thinking that there may be something else wrong with the install of the software. When I enter 'layer styles' in Help I get the message "The topic you want to view applies to a product that you have not installed". Does anyone have any other ideas of what I can try?

Hi,

Ok, I started over and reformatted my hard drive to reinstall Windows Vista (yes i know drastic), reinstalled PSE 5.0 and the Special effects drop down is working fine now. Apparently the download was what caused my problem. In re-reading the download I used, it was for Windows Vista (32-bit versions only). My laptop is 64-bit. Hopefully everything else will work properly.

We recently put vista ultimate 64-bit os into our computer. And yesterday I installed elements 5.02.

so far, so good.

Am wondering if you ended up running into any problems with YOUR 64-bit?
(and if I'm about to go over some cyber cliff....)
