I've been using 5.0 for a few days with no problems. Suddenly, I can't open files in the Editor. I haven't added any software or anything. I can view the files in the Organizer. But if I click on "open full edit" from there, or go directly to Editor, when I try to open a file, nothing happens. Nothing!

Just now I was able to open a recently imported NEF (RAW) file and make the RAW adjustments to it. But when I then clicked "open," it would not open in the Editor.

Earlier in the day, I was clicking on different files to try to open them. Nothing happened. But some of those files then appeared in the dropdown list of "recently edited files"! But I haven't recently edited them, I just tried in vain to open them!

Any help with this would be MOST appreciated!

Occasionally I have found that when I click on an image in the organizer and try to open it in full edit ...nothing happens. At the same time if I have then opened the file from the hard drive and try to save it having 'save in organizer' checked it just grinds away and comes back with a message stating that the organizer is busy or there is something wrong with the file.

If this is the case, some helpful person here told me to exit both organizer and editor and then open the organizer with the control key held down. You will get a message asking if you want to recover the file. Answer yes. It will take a few minutes (and in my case more than a few because I have over 20,000 files). Also, it may look like the action has halted at 66% done and, in fact, also say the file is not responding. Don't give up! It will finish. Just leave the room and come back later. This has always reconnected the organizer and editor for me.

What you are describing sounds like something else may be going on. Maybe someone here has some other suggestion, but this works for me.

Hi,Anybody any other suggestions/ideas,I have the same problem,I'm a relatively new user and only found out that I shouldnt be renaming files outside of PS.I've reconnected all missing files, recovered the catalog, tried the ctrl/shift/alt to reset preferences, deleted thumbnail cache and all other tips in previous posts but still cant open an image in editor from the organiser button....I can drag the image from the organiser into the editor space but it wont open using the quick fix/ full edit buttons...................I'm thinking about re0installing as I've only a couple of thousand images, but have used tags/collections quite a bit and would like to avoid having to re do this.

Anybody any suggestions??

thks

I think I might have stumbled upon the fix (although there might have been an easier solution?).....I created a new catalog, imported photos from folders and I can now open photos in the Editor by Quick Fix/Full Edit options..........
