Green, yellow, & Red

I have a silly question-when these video tutorials are showing. in the upper left hand corner of the canvas is red. yellow & green circles (lights). How do those get there and what is their purpose?

I am using a Mac so I may not be seeing the same thing that you are ... this is what I see in the top left:

They are Mac symbols the Red one closes the Window, Yellow one closes it into the Dock and the Green one Maximises the size of the Window ..

... but as I said I am using a Mac so you may be seeing something different to me :)

Funny you should mention that - I was in getting the car serviced last week and my enlightened car dealer provides Internet access while you wait. And he has Macs - so I got to play with Safari for the first time and it took me a little while to figure out those traffic lights :)
