I'm new to scrapping and decided to try the Making a string tutorial....got the string setup and then had to go watch the Tag video. I've now dropped in a new tag and moved it over the string. However, when I place it over the string my hole in the tag in not a hole in that the string doesnt show thru the hole?
Thanks

Hi Ron ...
Not sure which tag tutorial you are going ... is it the one by Linda (Scrapbooking area down at the botton).
I'm just wondering if you made the tag on the backgrounds layer .. if you did it could be that when you made the hole it just filled it with while instead of punching a hole in it.
Take a look at the layers palette and see if that is what has happened :)

Wendy,
Yes, it is the tutorial by Linda. I have a background layer that is blank/white, a layer with my rectangle and a layer with my eliptical circle with my hole punch in it??

Hi Ron ...
If you go back to the tutorial (Part 1) you will see that Linda does the tag and the elliptical circle on the same layer. Then she punches a hole in that.
Try merging those two layers and then punch a new hole in it :)

Wendy,
I have it all on one layer and it still is not a hole. In fact, the rectangle around the tag is also not transparant....what else could I have done? I have tried to do it all again but same results.

Ron ....
You just need to merge the two layers (the layer with your rectangle and a layer with your eliptical circle in it). If you look in the Video Linda does both these on the same layer ...
Did you merge the background layer too ??
If not then try switching of the eyeball on the background layer and is the hole and the surounding area now transparent ?

Wendy,
Thanks for the help....I had not merged the background layer but if I turned off the eye on the background I get the transparant hole and also the unused area at the top of my original rectangle (background layer). That wasn't in the tutorial but the fix (turn off the background eye) makes sense.
Thanks again for the hand holding....

Hi Ron ...
Oh that is quite OK ... so glad that you now have it working.
By the way if you go to the Subscriber area>Downloads ... then scroll right down to the bottom you will see some custom shapes I did for making scrapbooking tags.
I'm not sure why some of my stuff is at the top of the page and some is at the bottom but it is confusing :) :)
