:) Greetings everyone, this is my first visit. As such my ability to search to see if a topic has already been asked/covered is nil.
Last year before a photo shoot I wanted to give the models some ideas on posing. Not wanting to use cluttered photos somehow I stumbled upon how to convert the images to drawings which made the images a lot more clear. However after many hours of trying I an not able to duplicate this feat. I was using PSE 2.0 but today purchased PSE 5.0. When I did the convert all it took was to select the image and then apply a filter I believe. Any way it was not complicated.
Any help would be greatly apperciated.

There are lots of ways to do it, but this one used a simple filter -- smart blur, edges only, then invert the image.

Hi Jim,
Welcome to the forum. Regarding your comment about searching the forum, the search function on the forum doesn't do a very good job. The best way I've found to search for previous topics in the forum is to use Google Advanced Search. Type in your key words and then put the forum web address in the "site or domain" box. You'll get more hits an a lot better ones than by using the forum search function.

Jo,
thanks for teaching this old dog a new trick. I've been looking for a way to simplify some shots of my wife in clown character and costume to make a "coloring book" page. this should do it.

Well, nobody else has jumped in yet. Anita (Westiemom) did some nice soft colored sketches and she put some instructions in post 19 here:

I'll put a few pics in my gallery of stages in the process with an azalea.

Another way to Google search a website directly is to download and install the Google toolbar, then make sure the Search Site button is checked on. Then you can type the search into the Google window and click on the Search this Site only icon instead of the usual "Go". Not for those who want to minimize the number of toolbars, of course.

I finally got around to trying Anita's technique - I really like it a lot! My first try is here:
Lighthouse (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/gallery/view_img.php?id=20621)
I used a modified method - accidentally. Forgot to copy the black and white layer before inverting, so one less layer and more color. Probably too much color, but I'm learning!

OOOOh Chuck - Wow! It looks great. I really like it. I guess I will have to try it too! Thanks for the creative nudge. Andie

I just visited your gallery, loved the "borders" you did on some of the photos. Is there a tutorial on that?

Linda, what kind of borders do you mean?
The ones that might look like glass I did by
selecting a rectangle for the center,
ctl > j to put the center on its own layer,
then copy the original pic below the "center" layer to be the "background",
use a filter like diagonal strokes, and play with lightness and saturation.
