I've been under the weather lately (doc thinks I might have a bleeding ulcer, going to see a specialist the end of the month) so haven't had the energy for much scrappin'.

But I got to thinking about templates and came up with a couple of new ones I thought I'd share with y'all.

This is designed to look like the main page is concave.

This one could have small accent pictures next to the large focal picture or you could put design objects in the squares.

Sorry I didn't get a sample scrapped for the second one, I'm just running out of steam. http://bestsmileys.com/fainting/1.gif

Sorry to hear Jane that you are under the weather. Hope your feeling better soon.

I have a question about these templates, I am not to familiar with using templates so how do I use them? I saved them as a JPEG is that the right way to save them?

Thanks for the templates - I really like the simplicity of the first one and the scrapbook page? It's wonderful.

Hey, Jane . . . you're too nice to be sick! I hope health comes your way very soon. And thank you for your generous template offerings. I'm sure I'll use them. I think that second one looks like it could be a lot of fun.

Thanks for all your well wishes. I was feeling strong enough to get up to the computer for a bit (wish dh's new laptop was up and running, but it is still in the box) so thought I'd post what I came up with today while doodling around.

Remember these are square so they can be rotated. This is not the orientation I created it at...

Oh and a couple of weeks ago (while my 'puter was having problems) someone pm'd me and asked for my curved filmstrip template. I can't remember who it was, so hopefully they will see this....

Sorry to hear Jane that you are under the weather. Hope your feeling better soon.

I have a question about these templates, I am not to familiar with using templates so how do I use them? I saved them as a JPEG is that the right way to save them?

Yes saving them as a jpeg is correct.

Instructions for templates:
1. To create a scrapbook page, open the template, photos, and paper you plan to use.
2. Get the Magic Wand tool and make sure "contiguous" is checked in the Options bar
3. Choose the photo you want to use and choose "Select>All" (shortcut: ctrl "A") to put a selection outline around the picture.
4. Choose "Edit>copy" (ctrl "C") to copy the picture (or paper)
5. Click on the template document to select it and then click on the area you wish to replace with the magic wand to select that area.
6. Create a new layer (ctrl J), select that layer - hold down the ctrl key and click on the icon
7. Choose "Edit > "paste into selection" to paste the photo/paper into the selection - do not deselect yet.
8. Resize or move the photo as needed, when you are satisfied with the placement then do "Select > deselect"
9. Repeat the above steps to fill the page (I usually start from the background paper and then add photos)
10. Add embellishments and titles and journaling.

Helpful hints:
1. You can change the color of borders by selecting them and then recoloring with the paint bucket tool.
2. Since these are square layouts you can rotate them and get a whole new look!
3. If there is an element you don't want to use, you can use the paint bucket to fill it with the background color, and it disappears.
4. For filmstrip templates make sure contiguous is not checked when you select the background - that way all the little holes are filled with the background you choose.

Your welcome!

Here is a layout I did last night using one of the curved filmstrip templates.
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1XqXaYvqQpOy5GudWAzaRwnl0K1MX1_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1XqXaYvqQpOy5GudWAzaRwnl0K1MX1)

And another one that (gasp) didn't involve a template. :)
http://www.pixentral.com/hosted/1tTBr8BzZevwTN3OC3UqSb2Hbmf381_thumb.jpg (http://www.pixentral.com/show.php?picture=1tTBr8BzZevwTN3OC3UqSb2Hbmf381)

Both of these used actions, papers and embellishments from Atomic Cupcake, and a frame of Jodi's.
