Have a panorama 14 x 7.78 that when printed on 4 x6 paper it cut both ends. This is how I'm doing it: print preview, print size ( 4 x 6). In the printer settings select 4 x 6 photo paper. I have a HP photosmart D7160. I guess it is not too smart, or is it me? :D

Thanks for your help. :o

Fernan, I guess it's a problem of incompatible sizes.

14 x 7.78 is an aspect ratio of 1.8 (14 divided by 7.78)
4 x 6 is an aspect ratio of 1.5 (6 divided by 4)

If you resize your original to 14 x 9.33 that will produce an aspect ratio of 1.5 which should then print on 4x6 paper. Right?

Don't get me started on bordered vs. borderless; I always get lost when I see those threads. :)

Fernan,
If you just cropped the image to a 6 x 4 aspect ratio, you would loose too much. In this case I would suggest to put some white space on top and bottom of it and keep the image intact. This can be done by increasing the height of the canvas. Go to >Image >Resize >Canvas Size and put the appropriate percentage into the Height box.
There is a bit more math involved to find that percentage. The image, which you posted is 644 x 350 pixels. That is an aspect ratio of 1.84:1. You need to be at 1.5:1. Calculate 1.84/1.5 = 1.2267, which is 122.67%. So, increasing the height by 122.67% will give you the correct ratio.
Anyway, your output will look like this (I put a stroke around the entire area for clarification):
