Hi everyone,
I am new to the digital scrapbooking world. I have done some work in Photoshop Elements, and am currently working on my website. I was wondering what I print my 12 x 12 digital pages on. I have the R1800 printer, but not sure if I print on photo paper, or on cardstock.
I am so excited to start! Thank you

Welcome to the forum Carmen,
I have printed on both. The photo paper certainly gives the finished page a better look but is also a lot more expensive. Because of the better finish, I prefer the photo paper.

Hi- I have that printer, and for 12x12 pages, I print on Epson Matte scrapbook paper. I've been very happy with the results!

I tried Epson semi-gloss scrapbook paper and I was blown away by the sharpness, crisp textures and vivid colors. I have an Epson printer - don't know if that helped.
I tried matte scrapbook paper and although I really love the look of stuff printed on matte - and I didn't like the matte look for the scrapbook pages. However, if put in a plastic holder, you'd probably get the same result.
I think the Epson semi-gloss scrapbook paper would make a wonderful book bound without those plastic sleeves.

Hi Carmen - I print my pages out on 12 x 12. I have an Epson 1280; a little old now, but still works fine. I had been using the specialized Epson scrapbook paper, but its very expensive ($3/sheet), and it didn't quite print all the way to the edges. I now use larger paper (13 x 19), print out my page then trim to size. I use Epson heavy-weight matte paper, which is supposed to have a life of over 70 years.
Another option would be to send your pages to print at a lab. I just checked Costco - they are amazingly inexpensive. Regular (4 x 6) prints are just 19 cents (Cdn). They will do prints 12 x 18 for 2.99 Cdn. That's probably cheaper than printing at home. You'd just have to trim down to 12 x 12.

One of the reasons I changed paper type is that I couldn't get any of the Epson scrapbook 12 x 12 paper anywhere in Calgary. I originally found it at London Drugs, but they don't seem to have it anymore. I checked with Epson head office and they couldn't seem to find a retailer here either. You can order from them online, but the paper is 29.99 for 10 sheets.

I'm not sure if you have a Costco in Cananda, It is a large wholesale store that also develops prints in the US.. I print on 12 X18 sheet - one 12x12 LO and then two 6x6 for the grandparents.= cost is only $3.99 - US. There are quite a few online places as well to print.

And then of course there is always the option to upload your layouts to places like viovio.com and have a bound book printed. The largest size they have right now is 8.5x8.5 - but the price is hard to beat. $4.99 =.25 a page (add $10 more if you want a hardover book.)

Thanks again for all the pointers. There are actually quite a few options. I will check out the Costco in Edmonton. That is the closest city from my house (5 hours). I also like the idea of the book. I have checked with London Drugs for the scrapbook paper and they do not carry it. Thank you again for everyone's suggestions. I appreciate the help.

Hi, I have an Epson R1800 and a Canon i9900. I use the Epson because it has the profiles for 12x12 size pages. I too found that Epson Paper and ink was too expensive for my needs.
I found some great paper. Its not glossy I use matt for my work. I found a paper by Media Street to be very good in color reproduction and if purchased in a store it is cheaper than buying direct. The paper is called Generations Photo Matte, by Mediastreet.com. I get mine at a local photoshop for 12.99 for 20 sheets 13x19 and cut them down. I buy as many as they have when I go in. Recently found out that if I order more than three at a time I can get them shipped out quickly. I use the 80lb paper because I like the feel and weight, the 65lb 13x19 is lessor expensive and reproduces color just as well but I like the 80lb.
I use a continuose ink system in my R1800 found at inkrepublic.com. It saves a ton on ink cost, but it is not as good as regular Epson ink. It does a good job on matte papers but glossy or semi gloss i was not happy with. Check out the CIS systems at inkrepublic or on the Mediastreet. com site. At inkrepublic they have a video showing the system in operation and i installed mine watching the video, it was not a difficult thing to do and it is working very well for me.
My business is growing so I need more speed in printing for large volumes and thus far have not been able to locate a suitable ink jet, now looking at lasers. The problem is the ones I have found won't print full bleed 12x12. Any suggestions on a printer to try are welcomed.

12x12 would be nice:) Any reasonably priced larger photo paper would do, I could always use the excess for small prints.

I print out my own 12X12 pages & wouldn't do it any other way. I have a Canon Pro9000 and buy my paper from
http://www.hawkmtpaper.com (http://www.hawkmtpaper.com/). I get 50 sheets of photo matte double sided for $23 & I printed the same page out on the Epson Scrapbook paper as well as Hawk Mountain - no difference! They also ship overseas.

Well I have R1800 and I have trouble finding 12x12 paper so I buy the 13x19 and cut it. I think Canon has 12x12 on there site but it's only matte. I use the glossy for my pages which I hang in my office.

I use Scrapping Simply (http://www.scrappingsimply.com) to print my 12x12 layouts and love the quality. They often have great sales, but have fantastic prices every day.

We ship to the UK...$5 flat, we have BULK pricing, and our full quality archival, acid free 12x12 prints are only $1.99, you can't buy ink & a home printer for that price!
