I am having trouble playing my DVD on my TV. It plays great on my computer. It will begin playing smoothly and then begin to skip and jump. I have created 3 different DVD's using different methods in Pre but I still get the same result. The dvd is 30 minutes long using a slideshow that I created in Photoshop.

Sounds like a problem with you DVD player.

What type of DVD media are you using?

Have you tried it on another set top DVD player?

I'll keep checking and see if I can find anything but if it plays fine on your computer it's probably that your player doesn't like the disc.

I have experienced this same thing. My old burner was a 1X Dash R and played perfectly on my computer and both my DVD players which are fairly new. The same disks taken to other players would either not play at all or the would skip and jump or they would play perfectly.

I have a new burner and I am going to try to replicate the same show and the same players that I had trouble with before.

It will be interesting to hear from other people as to where the problem may lie. Is it the burner or the player or maybe the disks?

I am using Memorex DVD+RW media. I haven't tried another DVD settop player because I have used this burner to this media to this player and it has worked in the past on smaller dvd burns. I read somewhere that I might try burning it slower. Does that help? Or is the size of the file?

You can try burning slower, I seem to remember reading something about that somewhere.

As for the size of the file that *shouldn't* be an issue as I have done 2 hour presentations and had no problems.

Let me know if the slower burn makes a difference :)

I was just reading on http://www.videoguys.com that even if I buy memorex DVD+RW, that it sometimes will not work because of WHERE the DVD's were manufactured? Do you find that to be true?

I just got a new spindle and you maybe right about the media. What are people to do? It there a reliable place or vendor? Memorex was what the vendor recommended for my burner. I really love Pre and enjoy working with PS but it is very frustrusting when you don't know after all the hours you put in, if the media is bad.

What are your recommedations for media?

The media I use is the FujiFilm DVD-R, 8x write and haven't had any trouble with them.

I use these to master our training DVD's and send them out for replication.

I had one bad disc, but when I got it back there was a huge scratch across the face of the disc so it was a shipping damage issue not the media itself.

Did you try burning slower yet? If so what was the results?

In reviewing the post that Eric (E Woitte) made to my inquiry in a previous post, the RW or rewritable disks are not recommended for viewing on regular DVD players.

I will try to find the actual place it mentioned that on the site - there is a lot of information there!

The slower burn didn't help. So I bought the same exact Memorex disks (part number 3206 5560) that I had bought earlier in the year and it worked. After looking at their site, they don't make that part number any more.

Is that a standard for the industry that they don't recommend RW for regular DVD players?

Could that be my problem with the specfic media? Should I try Memorex DVD+R and see if that media works?

I don't know of a single RW media that is recommended for DVD players.

They don't work in CD players either.

RW media is generally used for data.

I have 3 RW discs for transfering files, viewing samples etc everything I do work on is DVD-R.

As for the +R media, I have never used +R so I can't comment on it either way.
