View Full Version : Lighting direction at printing

Hi!
I have noticed that the layers which I have applied effects with lighting direction to, have the lighting direction changed depending on how I put the document on the printing paper at the options before printing, which I think is a very strange feature. Is there a way to lock the lighting direction to the document?
Thanks

Not sure I understand what you're seeing. What effect are you applying and what option at printing are you changing? If you mean say a drop shadow changing position when you switch from portrait to landscape then that certainly shouldn't happen.

Interesting observation... it appears that PSE5 does, indeed, change the position of a drop shadow if the image is rotated in the Print dialog.

I guess the way to defeat that would be to create a composite layer prior to printing...

Now I see what you mean - I've never rotated that way - I just change the page orientation in Page Set Up and then it doesn't do it.

I haven't tried this in a print dialogue, but noticed it with text layers when I slightly changed their direction after they were finished.

It occurred to me that this may have the same cause as the fact that Global Lighting can no longer be unchecked. I think it's not so much a bug as that Adobe goofed.

Rita: I wondered that too but it does the same thing in PSE4 so I don't think it's connected to Global Lighting - so maybe not a bug just a feature

Tony,

interesting. I never used PSE4. Some feature, though!
