photoshop catalogs???????

Hi everyone and anyone,
I am a very uninformed digital photographer using photoshop elements 3.0.
Somehow I have placed my photos (about 1000) into 3 different catalogs, how the heck I did that I will never know, but there they are, and I would like to put them all into one catalog..I have tried several times ,,but just frustration. I know it must be simple but HELP HELP HELP.
Also when I download my pictures from my camera I don't seem to have any control as to which catalog they go into and I can not seem to control which pictures actually do go in, sometimes I just want to download a few and OOOPPPPS there they all go in again..can I control how many and which ones actually go into the catalog?????????? SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME HOW!!!!!!1

I only use one catalog -- but you would have to open the catalog you want the downloaded photos to end up in before downloading. You can use get photos option to add other photos to a catalog and targeting just the directory they are in.

PSE 3 won't re download any pictures that exist in the catalog; and you are able to place a check mark for each one you want downloaded. If memory serves me well enough.

I was able to manoever around my 3 catalogs with your help. seems one now is just a duplicate of the other, and the 3rd one is empty, so I thinkk I will just delete 2 of them...I assume that that will be easy enough, but if I have tropuble I will be back here in no time
