View Full Version : Need to make an accent wall??

I have 4 pictures that I want to copy and paste onto an empty wall, say a living room wall. I’d like the wall to be on a slight angle w/just a bit of flooring and maybe even having two walls meet in a corner. First of all, I can’t get the wall to look right. I would also like to add accent lights over each picture but that may be pushing it for me. Does anyone know of a tutorial for drawing a wall? Or maybe a copy of a wall that I could use? I tried to search Google and can’t find one. Any help would be most appreciated.

Charlotte,
Here is a very rough idea - did it quick & dirty but you'll see the idea.
On a blank file I used the rectangular marquee tool to outline a rectangle; Ctrl-J to put it on a layer. With the selection still active (or reactivated), use the paint bucket to fill it with your desired wall color. Now use Free Transform: Ctrl-T and then hold down the Ctrl key and drag the corners down where you want the two walls to intersect.
Then do it again for the other wall and move that wall around to get them to match up.

I guess you will also have to use Free Transform to put your hung pictures to have a similar perspective.
Does this work?

Thank you Rusty. I will try your instructions right now. I've been working on the background for hrs and just can't get it right. So I thought I would ask the nice folks here on the forum. By the way, if I conquer the wall, do you know how I could add accent lights. One more question, I also need to make the rope to hang the picture. Sorry so many questions but this is a project I need to do this week in my "spare time":D
Thanks again for taking the time to help me out.

Charlotte,
It's too bad Wendy is off on a week or so holiday - she's good at this kind of stuff. I am totally out of my league. I can shape the walls and that's about it.
Maybe somebody that knows will be along to post.

Rusty, thank you. I know what I want my wall to look like, but no matter how hard I try I can't get it to look right. This sounds morbid, but funeral homes always have great pictures displayed on a wall and accents lights hanging over them, that is the look I want. Maybe I should Google funeral homes:rolleyes: maybe not, gives me the chills thinking about that. Thanks again for your help. Maybe I will go with a plain wall.

Hi Charlotte, I think you could still accomplish this with Wendy's help even though she is on holiday by using her tutorials. For the wall and floor you could use her tutorial for displaying cards. Just do less table as the florr and more wall. For the wall corner you could use the Making a Box tutorial and where the walls come together use the Free Transform the opposite as the instructions like Rusty explained. For the lights, use the Spotlight tutorial the get the glow on the photos you put on the walls. These should help you get what you want, you will just need to do a little tweaking and adjusting to get the right shapes and angles you want.

Thank you Kim. I really appreciate your help w/this project. I may have to just do a plain wall for now because I don't have much free time this week unless I don't sleep and nobody likes being around me when I don't sleep. I don't even like myself when I don't get enough sleep.:D I will save the names of the tutorials you gave me and try it in a couple weeks.

Charlotte, I am getting worried now. My brothers always tried to tell me I was adopted. First you say I could be cloned into your family photos and now I find out we are alike when it comes to not sleeping. :D ;)
Good luck with the project whenever you get a chance to work on it.

Kim, you do make me laugh. Thanks for your help. Nothing wrong with a good night's sleep:D Its funny, my youngest son will come into my room at night and I'm usually here on the forum and remind me that its my bedtime. Now that's bad:D
