Color picker has switched itself around

I hope someone will be able to tell me what to do about this--but my color picker somehow changed from being the nice full window of one graduated color to being more like a florentine zigzag. (The colors are vertical and closely pushed together.) I don't know what I did to make this happen, and I don't know what to do to get it to go back to the regular color picker. Does anyone have a clue how to fix this? Thanks so much!

(I'm ashamed to admit I do not know what a "florentine zigzag" is... and it sounds so exotic!)

The other day I managed to get my color picker into an abnormal appearance -- it turned out that I had selected one of the radio buttons other than "H".

When I selected "H", again, all returned to the way it was.

Don't know if this is helpful to you, but I feel better having gotten it off my chest!

OH! How can I thank you!!! I just went and tried it and that was EXACTLY the problem. I feel so silly--but I just could NOT figure out how to make it go back to the colors the way they should be. Ah, I'll sleep better tonight :-)
