Any idea how I can get this logo (with a white background) onto a transparent background so when I copy it somewhere it doesn't have a white square around it?

Norma,
You must save it in a file format which supports transparency, like GIF, PNG or TIFF.

Thanks Byron! I forgot! I usually save as a png file.

Select the white part with the magic wand - edit> cut
then save as png.

This is sort of related. If I right click and Byron's adorable bug I can save it as a gif. Then could I re-save it in ps as a png and have it get it's exercise on another file?
