Well we are going to Phoenix for a few days to visit my aunt and also to go to Out of Africa Wildlife Park 2 hours north of Phoenix. I will have a couple of days free and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for things to do / see in or around Phoenix.

Nancy,

If you have any interest in Native American things go to the Heard Museum in Phoenix. It is a superior display. You won't be disappointed.

If you have the time and a car a side trip to Sedona is a must. One of the most beautiful spots in Arizona

I do want to try to get to Sedona but don't know if it will fit in. I'm not going until the end of the month but wanted to get the trip planned out in advance.

If you are going all the way up to that park, you might as well just stay over night in Sedona.
Then come back via Jerome (http://www.azjerome.com/).

Nancy,
If you like the work of Frank LLoyd Wright, by all means see his place(Talleisin).
The tour is worth the price of admission.

I do like him. There is a house here in my hometown that was designed by his assistant. My daughter babysat for the couple that own it and I got to see it several times. It is a very unusual house, very low ceilings in the hallways (6 1/2 ft) and then suddenly very high ceilings in the rooms (10-12 feet), lots of windows, lots of odd spaces, but mostly windows, windows, windows! It would take 6 months just to wash them all. It has some of his furniture in it too.

The Arizona Science Center has an amazing exhibit on the Human Body going on now. Well worth a stop!

If you have time, drive north to Sedona, then onto Flagstaff ... beautiful country, if I do say so, myself. ;)

You were right! We drove to Sedona and WOW it is gorgeous. I fell in love with the gorgeous red cliffs. It wasn't in our plans to go up there but we are really glad we did. Thanks for the tip!

I would LOVE to show you around!!!! I'll send you a PM with my phone # and email address.

By the way the body display at the science museum is closed now. FYI.

If you can make the trip to Sedona just keep on going and see the Grand Canyon. From Sedona go up through Oak Creek Canyon to the Grand Canyon.

Not quite in the same topic, but the "body" exhibit is in my town now (El Paso, TX). Is it a good one?

No - they were in NY playing the Mets. We ate at Hooters and watched the game on TV - boy the fans are wild there. We were sort of hoping the St. Louis Cardinals would be there and we could go to a game while we were there but no such luck. Oh well - I plan on going back so maybe next time.

It is very unusual. The displays are made with real cadavers. These people donated their bodies for this display. It is very interesting but sort of eerie. Andie

I went to the Body Worlds 3 exhibit in Phoenix. If you're into anatomy, it's awesome! (I am due to my job). If you're not, it could be a little weird.
