This week I decided to finish up the ABC book I started a long time ago, for Clara. I finished taking the missing photos, and went through a gruelling learning curve using Viovio, and have ordered the book :D It's kept me busy every spare moment of this week. If you'd like to see the pages, I have them here in my .Mac gallery: http://homepage.mac.com/ddjudd/PhotoAlbum60.html

We hope to be seeing the kids at the end of this month, so I'll be able to take the book with me. I have my fingers crossed that it will print up okay. A "group finger-crossing" might help, so get those fingers tangled up :D

Linda, that looks great. Beautiful photos. Clara, is a lucky little girl and she is going to cherish it forever because you made it for her. Hope you got more than one copy just in case. You should sell copies too. If I had a little one I would buy one.

Ummmm. Maybe a counting book?

Thanks to all of you for the nice words. I did put a lot of time on it, but a big part of the time was spent trying to figure out how to format (for Viovio) a cover that would wrap from front to back. I finally did it. Next time should be easier. It was fun making it. I only ordered one, to see how it turns out. If it's okay, I'll probably get a few more. I thought about selling it, but didn't know if I'd even make back the $35 annual fee. I'll think about it.

Linda,

That's really great! I'm still in the middle of making my ABC flashcards - about halfway there now, but I keep getting sidetracked.....

Thanks everyone! After working on it so long, I kind of got tired of the pictures, so it's nice to hear some feedback from "fresh" eyes :)

Sherrie, thanks for keeping everything crossed. I should have it in my hands in about a week, and I will let you know how it turns out.

Liinda, I forgot to mention last night that you are much more patient than me with VioVio. When I did the wedding book a few months back I got so frustrated with that I ended up just sending it into Shutterfly.

Again, thanks everyone!

Kim, I probably put in about 8 hours messing with Viovio, over a two-day period. But most of it was dealing with the cover. (And then there were all the re-uploads, because I saw something I didn't like about one or another of my photo pages -- not Viovio's fault! )

Just for anyone else who might want to use their services . . . I thought I was being helpful by putting a "gutter" on the binding-side of each page, but they stripped it off, which actually put my pages out of aspect ratio. If you send to them, just forget about adding a gutter, and make sure your entire page fits the aspect ratio. I actually lost some off of all sides of each photo, but it wasn't worth going back and re-doing every page.
