Brand new to this forum and excited to be here. Not sure how to explain what I am looking for in a baby pic but I have seen them at studios. There are an even number of squares with baby pics in them on a photo. The squares have beveled edges with drop shadows. How do you get the number of rows and columns on a photo and the the beveled edge frames? Any ideas?

Kathleen, hello and welcome to the forum. Is this photo what you are talking about?

To get columns and rows to line up you can use the grid. Go to the top tool bar to View and then Grid. The bevels can be added in styles. Depending on which version you are using will depend on where they are. In PSE5 they are in the Artwork Pallette under Effects, Filters and Layer Styles>Layer Styles (on left)>Bevels

Kathleen, I just recently left my Olan Mills and did something similar there and had a feeling that was what you were looking for. Got lucky that Denise still had it in her gallery. Do post back your finished Treasure.

If you have PSE5, you can also go the quick way:
File>Create>Photo Layout
There is one of 9 images you could use and just delete the top three to get exactly the same thing. Using the "Sky" theme, for example, gives you the stroke and the drop shadow on all images.

Reka, I totally forgot about the photo layouts having the 9 image layout. Thanks for pointing that out. I am a little confused though by way you say to delete the top 3 since the 9 layout is what Kathleen was looking for.
Kathleen, the layout can be changed also if you want the 9 images to be larger, just use the move tool to make them larger and move into place.

Reka, it looks really great. At Olan Mills I always took several shots of the babies feet, hands, extreme close ups, pics with Mom and Dad and then arranged them and zoomed even closer on some. They come as a 20x20 mounted on a cardboard and then have an acrylic coating and then framed. They are expensive but nice. The individuals images are about 4x4 each. I also liked to do them on the dark charcoal layout and do the images black and white and then put a black vignette on each so they seemed to blend better into the layout.

I have been at work and running errands and this is the first time I logged on since Thursday night and what a pleasant surprise!
I do have PSE5 and all the ideas are great. What a treat to have someone formally from Olan Mills on this forum.
I have 8 grandchildren with 2 boys under one year old and a new step grandchild due in June, so you can see that I have lots of subjects to practice on.
This weekend I need to work on printing off regular snaps (about 40) of the kids from church so they decorate the frames. Then I need to cut the frames out of foam and get them ready for the kids to decorate. I will also try doing something for my two daughters and one daughter-in-law for Mother's Day.
Between pc time, I do need to clean the house. Oh, woe, is me!
Next question, please. I did some photos, powerpoint, and album for a family event in Louisiana that an aunt had a few weeks ago. I have uploaded to CDs for the honorees. The photos are in psd format. Do I need to convert to jpeg or tiff so they can print out or can the Walmarts and Walgreens of the world print from psd files?

Kathleen, Sorry so long to reply, just got home from camping all weekend Sounds like you have alot of work on your plate this week. As for the WalMart and Walgreens photo format for printing, yes you will need to make the photos all jpg. Most photo finishers require .jpgs.
Good luck with your projects. Do ask if you need further assistance.

When I read about the pre-set layout for this project I figured I would give it a try. The last time I did one of these layouts, I made it from scratch and only included 6 photos. This was MUCH easier! Thanks again, to all, for the supportive and informative help and ideas.

Thank you!! I used the template right out of the PSE. Of course once you have the basic template, you can change the background, and photo frame style as well.
