I'm using PE 2.0 on a Mac (OS 10.4.9) and when i start it up lately, it launches an automatic download titled "Updating adobe online components from adobe.com," which freezes the program. It's downloading 2 files, AWEDBFiles4.awe and a .txt file, and it won't let me click cancel. Has anyone else had this problem, and what can i do?
thanks!

Hi ...
... and welcome to the forum :)
This is actually a well known problem with PSE2 ... it is going online and looking for an automatic update and tying itself in knots when it can't find it :). Not surprising as there never were any :)
First thing is disconnect for the internet and then do Photoshop Elements>Preferences>Adobe Online ... and set it to never.
That should sort it out :)

but when I tried to open the Adobe online preferences, it gave me an error message, "The Adobe Online Software could not be found. Please download and install an update from www.adobe.com/products/update/main.html"
Thoughts?

Hi ...
I'm not quite sure if you are in the right place:
Go to the bar at the top of the screen and click on Photoshop Elements ... a menu will appear. Choose Preferences ... then choose Adobe Online. You should be able to set it to never in there.
