How to open .pdf's

I have received some old hand written documents in .pdf format that I would like to make more legible. But when I try to open them from inside Photoshop Adobe Reader opens instead. The only way I have been able to get them into PS is by taking a screenshot, which makes the quality even worse.
When I save them to My Pictures from the Reader the only format choice is still .pdf and they again open in Reader.
I think I once knew a way of doing this, but I just can't remember. Can anybody help?

Try right clicking on the file, then Open With and pick Elements from the list.

You're welcome :) . You can do some amazing things with a right click and it's easy to forget to try it.
