I know there is something specific I am supposed to do so that I don't lose them when I close elements, but can't for the life of me think of what it is that I need to do.

Anyone know?????

Thanks for asking this question Coleen. I have been having mucho trouble downloading and saving sets lately. They show up when I load them, but are gone when I either switch brushes or close the program. I've done it hundreds of times before but for some reason it just stopped working for me.

If you want a brush set permanently loaded into PSE, drag the .abr brush file into Photoshop Elements\Presets\Brushes. If you just choose Load Brushes from the brush menu and then browse & load a brush set that way, it is only a temporary addition.

If you're talking about creating a new brush and then wanting to save that brush, the first thing to remember is that when you choose Define Brush Preset from the Edit menu, it's going to stick that new brush in whatever brush set is currently loaded. If you want to save it in a specific set, have that set loaded before you create the brush. Then, all you have to do is choose "Save Brushes" from the brush flyout menu (by clicking the little right-facing arrow when you've got the brush picker open) after your new brush is created, and choose the name of the current brush set to add it in. You can also go into the Preset Manager, choose Brushes, and delete or add any brushes you want to have in a set, and then save that rearranged set with whatever name you want. (Just be careful if you're picking a name that already exists, because that will overwrite the set.)

I don't usually save my brushes in Elements, I just open them as I want them but it seems to me that I recall they go in the following path ( used PSE3 for this since it was listed first)

C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 3.0\Presets\Brushes

Hi ...

If I am not around then it is worth taking a look in Wendy's Mini Tutorials (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=3641) as I have added links to some things like this :)

Its not too difficult to save your brushes but if you do get stuck then just ask :)
