View Full Version : With multiple pics on page, why does PSE4 crop anything over 8x10?

OK, another snafu with trying to print multiple pics onto one 8-1/2 x 11 sheet of photo paper. I place two 5x7s onto the sheet with a little bit of white space all around. They fit nicely. But when I attempt to print, I get the message that they are too large for the paper, and the program is going to automatically crop them. I have tried "center images" and not centering images. Doesn't seem to matter. But if I change the photoshop page size to 8 x 10 and arrange the 5x7s with no space between them vertically, then it would print OK. The trouble is I don't want the two photos butted up against each other. I want a little bit of white space between them for cutting. Is this doable? Anyone?

My guess is that the reason is that you have the paper size set in print set-up and it's not borderless so Elements has to allow for a margin. You can ignore the warning and you might have enough wiggleroom fo it not to crop off anything except a bit of white space or you can use "Fit on Page" and Elements will shrink it just enough to allow for the border that the printer needs.
You can also use Print Multiple photos and one of the layouts available is 2 5X7 on letter size paper. That should do what you want too and Elements does the calculation of how much space to leave for you.

I get that message to when printing almost everytime and I always click no for it not to crop and it always prints fine. Hope Tony's suggestions work for you.

If you are cutting the paper anyway, you have this option:
Set your paper size (in the printer driver) to 8.5 x 5.5. The printer will place the image on one half of the letter sized paper. Turn the paper by 180° and print the next image on the other half. There will be plenty of margin between the two.
Of course, you can cut the paper beforehand, but really no need to... ;)

Thank you all, great suggestions, and I'll try them. Up to now I've been printing only one 5x7 on a page, and I don't like wasting that much paper. So here goes nothing!
