Can anyone tell me how to obtain and install the "print image matching plug" in for elements 5.0? I have recently upgraded from elements 2.0 and regualy used the PIM plug in feature from epson but do not know how to get the updated plug in for elements 5.0 I tried to install the old plugin that I had from epson but it only works up to elements 3.

Found the PIM plugin on the Epson website here (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supAdvice.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&type=highlights¬eoid=18121), but it only works through PSE3 as you already know. Hopefully they will provide an update. I also looked on the Adobe web site and was unable to find anything regarding PIM for PSE5.0

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I don't use PIM II although I do use the ICC profiles that the PIM II plug-in comes with in PSE5 (I have an Epson R300) and they work fine. I would have thought that it should work in PSE5 - but you may need to manually install the components. I did just try putting the plug-in (it's in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements X.0\Plug-Ins\Import-Export and mine is called "PRINT Image Matching II.8ba" and it shows up in the Import dialogue in PSE5. I can't remember whether I had to manually install the ICC paper/printer profiles - I suspect I did but I'd have to remember how I did that  .
Give it a try and see if it works - I think that Epson quietly dropped PIM II so it's not supported any more. The latest incarnation is EXIF 2.2. But as Elements has it's own color management you really don't need either unless you print direct from camera to printer. But the PIMII file is useful as a way to get the printer/paper profiles for your particular printer (assuming you haven't changed printers).
Maybe someone who actually uses PIM-II can add something to the discussion.

PS You'll also need to put three DLL files into the Import-Export Folder like this - then it should work (it does in PSE4 - haven't tried in PSE5):
