View Full Version : black and white with one element of color?

i would like to know how to make a photo black and white but leave one element (roses) in color. any suggestions? i haven't got the hang of using the brushes yet.

Seen a few ways of doing this and you'll get some good advice here.
The easiest way I've found is to create another copy of the image on another layer above the original. Take the new layer, convert it to B&W using whatever process you prefer. Then grab the eraser and erase anything where you want color to show trough from the original layer. Easy!

THIS RECENT THREAD (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com/forum/showthread.php?t=22537) has an example of another way to do it using a Hue/Saturation layer and a Layer Mask.
