As a "newbie" won't one of the pros please advise me on how to remove or cover over those dark rings around my grandchildren's eyes. (It must be from lack of sleep, says my Daughter. Thanks in advance. Ed Weidman

I have had success doing this by:
1. Duplicate the layer with the child's face
2. On the duplicate layer, use the healing brush tool to completely take away the dark circles
3. Lower the opacity on the duplicate layer until it looks natural (allowing some of the dark "circle" to come back through)

For this you will need a layer mask ... but there are several around so that shouldn't be a problem :)
Duplicate your layer and set the blend mode to screen (don't worry about how it looks)
now add a mask to the new layer and fill the mask with black (your image will now revert to the original look :) )
Select a soft brush, lower the opacity of the brush to around 10%
Then gently paint over the dark area.
(This works quite well on dark glasses too)

Thank you both for your help. I was able to remove most of the rings and know that with a little practice I'll be able to do much better. Ed

Ed,
The easiest way is to download one of the add ons ...there is one in the subscribers area under Elements Extras and another on Grants site:
http://www.cavesofice.org/~grant/Challenge/
Another way is to use a workaround for a mask ... and here is tut on how to do that:

Let us know if you need any more help :)
