I'm having a major challenge when I use the clone tool. After following the instructions in help I can get the tool to work-simple enough. The challenge is after sampling and when I start to remove the unwanted item there is a cross that appears above the brush that is removing the unwanted area. Now this brush picks up the area it is over and that is what shows up in the area I am trying to remove not the area I oringinally sampled. What causes this and how do I prevent it? Thank you. Carl

Hi Carl ...

Initially you hold down Alt to give the clone tool a start point to begin its sampling ... then you start to clone. The sample point moves along when you are cloning ... that shows you where the clone tool is now using as a sample. Thats they way it works ...

If you want to just use one small area as the clone sample you will need to keep resampling from there ...

Hi Wendy & thanks for the reply. Is there a way to prevent the sample point from doing a continuious sampling? Or will I have to just continuiously be taking new samples, but if that is the case the sample point will over-ride the new sample when I start to clone with it-I think . Carl

Hi Carl ...

You can't over ride it ...

... when you do the sample again it will then start from that point. So just keep sampling again every few clicks :)

Hi Carl

One thing you can do is uncheck the "aligned" box. This won't do exactly as you want but the source area only follows the target area as long as the mouse button is held down.

Not perfect by any means, but at least an option.
