This photo didn't come out quite the right color (the blossoms). How can I fix this? I'm open to suggestions.

Here's your picture, this is what I done. Enhance>adjust color>color variations>remove reds. But, I'm not sure if this is what you want. I'm sure others will come along a give better comments and are more advanced than I am.
But anyway I tried!!

Chas,

What I usually try is Adjust Lighting > Levels. Then, I do not start moving the right & left points with it in RGB mode. I use the drop-down menu to cycle thru the individual Red, Green and Blue channels.

If that doesn't work I then go to Adjust Color Variations exactly as Smiles outlined.

The reason I do levels first is that I can easily see what's happening on the screen. The Adjust Color Variations only lets you see that dinky little thumbnail.

Quite tough as I don't know what the right colour should be but I thought I'd give the new ACR 4.0 a try (in PSE5). Opened the jpeg with the RAW editor and upped the temperature, downed the tint and gave it some vibrance and a bit of sharpness. Don't know if this is close to the original or not but it was sure quick to do :) .

Really no idea what the colors are supposed to be. Just wanted to go a little greener in foliage. I used the Channel Mixer, which I have in PSE2.

Hi there

I don't know the real colors but it works well with the screen blur technique folks have beem playing with

WOW! So many variations of my photo. What I was trying to achieve was the blossoms bluer. If I used the magic wand,I'm afraid I'd get into trouble with the red blossoms. As a matter of fact,I don't remember even seeing the red in the blossoms.

Chas, I've had some similar problems with the red dominating the colors of a reddish-blue flower; I read somewhere that it's a limitation of the camera sensor.

I'd be inclined to try the levels adjustments, backing off on the red and/or increasing the blue. You might have to select the flowers and apply the levels adjustment layer to just the flowers in order not to knock the greenery too far out of whack.

Chas, I did a very rough levels adjustment just to see if it's more like what your eye sees. I left one blossom unadjusted for comparison.

Tony, that's the effect I was trying - unsuccessfully - to achieve. Excellent!

Chuck,
I tried earlier today in vain what you and Tony accomplished. I see where digital sensors can have a limitation. Thanks.

Well, I ended up using the color replacement brush as per the "missing volume" book. It sure looks more like what I saw.

Chas, great choice - and great result!

:)

p.s. I really don't think I knew that tool existed, but sure enough, I found the section in The Missing Manual (for PSE 3....I really need to get an updated version). Thanks, Chas, for the tip!

Chuck,
The Missing Manual for PSE5 has saved my bacon on several occasions. It's well worth the price.

Chas, it's far and away my favorite Elements book. Time for a new one!

Thanks again!
