I just noticed that certain downloads for RAW files wil only work with PSE 4.01 or higher. What do you do if you have PSE 4.0 to upgrade this to take the additional plug-ins?
Thanks,
Tom

Tom: If you're talking about Camera Raw 4.0 it does work in Elements 4.0 for Windows (although Adobe don't say it does). I think (but don't really know) that 4.01 might be the Mac version.

Tony,
PSE 4 will handle RAW files using plug-in 3.7 as I have been doing this. However, I think there is a new PSE upgrade(4.01) that is available for both MAC and Windows that uses a new plugin(4.0). I think this was announced to be available this month and did not quite make oit, but I may be wrong.

Tom: I think you have it wrong. You can get the ACR4 update here and it's worth updating your PSE4 with it (and ignore the fact that Adobe say it only works with PSE5 - it does work with PSE4 too:

Thank you Tony. I appreciate you correcting me and I will download this.
Tony, I have PSE 5, but I have never put this on my computer. Are there any good reasons for me to use PSE 5 rather than PSE 4? I rarely ues the Organizer for anything other than for feeding the Editor so differences in the Organizers are of little concern and differences in the Editor are of relatively major concern to me.
Thanks again, Tony. Have a picture perfect weekend.

Tom: I would go with PSE5 and you can always leave PSE4 on and just try it and see if you like it (just can't have the two open at the same time). It does depend on what you use it for but there are enough new features for basic photo editing that I'd go for 5 every time over 4.

Tony,
I downloaded and installed the updated DNG converter into PSE 4.0 as you recommended. I actually setup a new computer and printer Friday evening and I want to become familiar and facile with this before switching to PSE 5. Too much too fast is too bad, from my experience. However, I will do this shortly and your help is very sincerely appreciated.
Have a great week.
Tom
