Does the instruction: Convert the background to a layer, then crop the image and remove the ball mean, that I have to Select the ball, copy and then paste it to put it on a transparent background? thanks, Lois

Those instructions....."remove," taken literally, would mean to get rid of the ball in some way, such as cloning over it. Without seeing what the end product is supposed to look like, it's hard to tell what the author means.

I am " Making the Ball" to be place in a hand and using a photo for the displacement to be put on the ball. The instrutions say, "First, I converted the background to a layer, then cropped the image and removed the ball." I hope this explains what I'm trying to do. If not, let me know & I'll give you more detail. Thank you, Lois :)

Hi Lois,

Are the instructions you are following something from this forum? Could you post a link to the instructions wherever you found them. While you are on the web page the instructions are on, go to the top of your browser and copy the URL address and paste it in your reply here.

Hi Lois,
First double click on the background layer and when get pop-up asking if should convert to a layer say ok. Next select the ball however you like. Then inverse the selection(selection>invert). Last hit the delete key. Will now have the ball on a transparant background. For future re-use save as a .psd or .tiff. If you save as jpeg the program will drop in a white background. Hope this helps. Linda
