Problems/Corey Barker 4/20/07 Podcast GLASS EFFECT

Is anyone having problems viewing this podcast today...no audio after a few seconds, and computer freeze up if you continue without the sound...corrupt file messages, etc. Everything else seems like business as usual with my computer, i-Tunes, and its other podcasts.

I get this podcast via iTunes and its free subscription system.

I found a way that works to resolve the issue.

I had to purge the Podcast from iTunes altogether and then resubscribe. The download for Glass Effect that came with this resubscription works fine.

I still would be interested to learn if anyone else experienced problems trying to view this episode.

I just downloaded it and didn't have any problems with viewing it.

I downloaded via iTunes as always. When I started it, it skipped a few words in the intro, but then performed flawlessly. Another good illustration of the displacement map process!

Hi all,

I've had trouble with the last 2 podcasts. They seem to download as normal and then only play the first quarter.
I've tried deleting and reinstalling but the same effect. the previous podcasts have been no trouble.
Also using an iMac.

Any answers???:(

I viewed it off the subscriber area instead of iTunes. No problem on my end doing it that way. Sorry I can't be of more help with trying to figure out the problem you are having.:confused:

Looks like Bayla and I aren't the only ones having trouble viewing this video.
Usually I just watch the videos there at the subscribers area with no problems until now. iTunes doesn't work at all for the podcasts. I have to use Real Player to view them. Go figure?

I've always watched them from iTunes with absolutely no problem . . . until this one. It plays wonderfully all the way through, until the last 30-some seconds, and then it stops. The indicator shows that it is continuing to proceed to the conclusion, but the video and audio stop. I want to know what he does in that last step! :(

If it is just the last 30 seconds of that podcast, you probably just missed the farewells and credits.

If you missed the last phase of the technique, it goes something like this:

He wants to define more, so....
Layer 4 active
Filter/Render/Clouds
Filter/Distort/Glass (same settings as before)
Goes back to basic shape layer (Layer Shape 1), control clicks/loads as selection
Goes and highlights Layer 4
Does Control J to generate Layer 5 (now has shape on own layer)
Discards Layer 4
Changes Blend Mode of Layer 5 to Hard Light
Finally, comments that this technique can also do interesting Text Effects on variety of different backgrounds.

Oh, thank you, ATR! It was just the final step: "Change blend mode to hard light" that I missed. Now I can sleep tonight ;)
