Hi!

Wasn't sure where this Q fitted - mod, please move me if I'm inappropriately placed!!
I'm making some 3600x3600/300dpi images which I want to save to png format. They are grayscale and need a transparent bg (textured overlays for digiscrapping) - is there any way to reduce my file sizes? They are currently about 5mb, but would really like them smaller...any ideas?
Am I right in assuming that if I make a b+w image into a brush then I'm limited to 2500px?

Thanks as always...
Lizzie xx

Hi Lizzie ...

You could use Save for Web and use PNG 8 but you are likely to seriously degrade the image. The only other alternative is the make the image itself smaller ..

Yes brushes are limited to 2500 pixels so they are not too useful for overlays :)

When i tried png8 previously the dpi was reduced down to 72 I think...Will try and get back!
...Yeah, just tried and it does reduce dpi to 72. It also adds alot of white area around the image (and I'm talking ALOT around the very subtle grey shaded parts) so it would be unusable.
Are there any settings I can tweak to achieve less large result anywhere?
Thanks
