Has anyone heard of plans for a DVD for Elements 5 on 'Restoration and Retouching ? The class and book sound OK, but a DVD would be much more valuable to me !!

There is one -- been out about a year I think. It's advertised on the introductory screens of this website. But, be aware, this is a DVD that only plays on a computer. Thus, I have never been able to watch the one I rec'd when I purchased a 2-year subscription.

Yeah, I saw that but it is for Portrait Retouching, I'm talking about 'Restoration and Retouching' for old/damaged photos from the 1800's, early 1900's

Hi-the DVD that is available was based on Dave's class and is really only covering portrait retouching (it was a great class, BTW). It doesn't really cover restoration. As far as I know there isn't much on DVD, but Matt's new book is excellent as is Katrin Eismann's. I got into restoration on my own at first-lots of patience and found both of these books a great way to add to what I had figured out by trial and error.:)

Hi ...

Both of those books are great and they show you the techniques that you need to do restoration ... but its practise, practise, practise that you need once you know the theory.

I taught myself my starting on my Baby Album ... when I got to the end I realised I had learned a lot so I started over again. Then when I got to the end ... well I think you get the picture :)

I ordered Matt Kloskowski's book 'Retouching and Restoration' from the subscriber area and once added to cart, everything pointed to Scott Kelby...hope I get the Matt book...

Also, Katrin Eismann's 'Restoration and Retouching', 3rd Edition (Voices That Matter), are these techniques compatable with Elements 5 ?

Rusty,
I received that DVD also when I subscribed and I can view mine. I does not start automatically though. You have to go to My computer, right click DVD then click explore. Then click PSE_Portrait, then click start.exe and it should start right up. Hope that helps.
