I'm trying to follow Matt's video from May 13th on installing extras. I've downloaded the folder, unzipped it, copied it to the effects folder within the preview folder, but when I open up PSE there's nothing extra in the box to the right of the extras box as in the video. What am I doing wrong?

I haven't watched the video so I'm not sure what Matt says, but do you have to delete a cahes folder/file? and let elements rebuild it?

Did you move the two folders from inside the Extras folder? ... and are you using PSE3? (only reason I ask is that they don't work in PSE2) :)

If Bayla is using PSE 3 then yes the cache folder has to be rebuilt. Matt explains that in the tutorial.

1. I'm using PSE3

2. After unzipping the download, I clicked on the PET extras folder & then copied the two folders entitled PET - productivity & PET - special effects into the effects folder.

3. I renamed the cache 'cache_old' as suggested by Matt & then once there was a new cache, deleted the old one.

But there's still nothing there when I open up PSE.

I'm sure that I'm doing something fundamentally wrong but I haven't a clue what!!

Bayla,

Are you looking in your Styles & Effects Palette and being sure you have Effects selected, then clicking on the drop down list to the right of that and select "ALL" or just the PET Productivity one of your choice.

They should be there. It sounds like you did everything right. Let us know. If I can't help you then someone else surely will. There are a lot of people on this forum a whole lot smarter than me.

In desperation I deleted all the files and started again....and for some perverse reason it worked this time although I did nothing different.
